The Spurs will move on to face their nemesis, the Golden State Warriors, but first they had to destroy the Rockets and hold Houston below 100 points for the first time in this series, winning 98-121 behind powerful play from Josh Smith. The former Rockets player had 27 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks as the Spurs dominated all game long. Kawhi Leonard had 17 points, before the Spurs rested their stars in the final period.
Jeremy Lamb had a nice contribution with 15 points, as did Patty Mills with 12 points and Davis Bertans, the sharpshooter prospect with 12 points. The Spurs shot 48% from 3PT range in this beating, similar to how the Spurs eliminated the Jazz.
The Houston Rockets might as well have eliminated themselves, missing 13 free throws as a team. James Harden was just 6-14 with 16 points and 5 assists. Clint Capela had 16 points and 10 rebounds, showing promise as a premier big man of the future, but CP3 had a poor effort in this elimination game.
Now, the Warriors await the Spurs at Oracle Arena to decide the king of the west.
