Spurs finally lose to Nuggets in shootout, after winning eight straight.

The Nuggets shot past the Spurs, 129-138.
The Nuggets got revenge on the Spurs in the final minutes of the 4th Quarter. It looked like either team's day to take, but it was the Nuggets outshooting the Spurs late. Kawhi Leonard made some big 3PTers in the final minute, but tired legs helped get easy baskets to pad Denver's lead, putting it out of reach. Rudy Gay's deadeye was off tonight, despite an early stellar performance from deep by San Antonio, as Rudy's would-be score-tying shot missed and led Denver to score.

Kawhi Leonard finished with 28 points (10-17%; 6-10 3PT%) in the loss. Patty Mills had a strong double-double, with 19 points and 10 assists. He made his first four 3PTers, but missed in the clutch, unusually when the Spurs needed it most. Rudy Gay had 18 points, Jeremy Lamb had 14, Tony Parker had 13 points with 7 assists and Pau Gasol finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

The Nuggets surged in the final period, despite falling down by 10 points in the second quarter. They won the 3rd quarter as well, outscoring the Spurs 77-66 in the second half. Coach Popovich was not pleased by the lack of quick response down low by the basket, responsible for most of Denver's points, not to mention their stunning shooting from long range. The Spurs also committed 21 turnovers, leading to 19 steals for the vengeful Nuggets. Both teams still shot 59% and 55% respectively, with San Antonio going 19-36 from 3PT territory despite losing the contest.

Paul Millsap had 28 points and 9 rebounds; Wilson Chandler hit some tough shots over Kawhi Leonard late for 20 points. Gary Harris had 20 as well with 7 assists. Jamal Murray had 18 and 16 assists. Nikola Jokic was the main defensive focus for the Spurs, but in doing so, the other Nuggets took advantage, as he finished with just 16 points and 12 rebounds.
