Spurs (15-5) win 7 straight games; remain undefeated at home

The Spurs are firing on all cylinders right now, led by Leonard
The Spurs have been "clicking" to say the least after the Shumpert/Lamb/Green swap with the Cavaliers. Kawhi Leonard went 12-13 in Orlando in a convincing win behind 28 points, and 21 points with 7 assists by Patty Mills (and 21 & 10 from Gasol). A close battle in the nation's capital saw Kawhi Leonard hit a game-winner at the buzzer for San Antonio, burning John Wall's otherwise amazing performance (20 points, 18 assists) and the rematch saw yet another victory for the Spurs at home.

Although they went down by 12 points to John Wall & Co., the Spurs rallied and wound up leading by 17, winning 126-118. Patty Mills knocked in five huge 3PTers for 15 points with 8 assists, and Tony Parker helped Mills' rocky turnover-laden start to the contest, chipping in 21 points and dashing inside to make it to the free throw line as well.

Kawhi Leonard (21 points)had some athletic "wow" plays, as did Rudy Gay (17 points) and the newest Spur, Anderson Varejao, helped on the boards and on defense, getting some nice second-chance points also. The Spurs added the longtime Cavalier-big man Varejao on the cheap, realizing a need for a third center, adding to the team's overall impressive depth chart.

During their win streak, the defending champions bested the Mavericks, Hornets, Celtics, Wizards and Magic (including two wins versus Dallas & Washington). Most of all, the Spurs defeated arch rival Kyrie Irving on his new team, the Boston Celtics, in a thrilling contest. Kyrie had 21 points with 10 assists, but Kawhi had 28 points and 9 rebounds. Patty Mills was on fire as well, making 6-10 from beyond the 3PT line for 24 points. Gasol finished with 16pts/8rebs and Parker with 13 off the bench. Although Iman Shumpert got "shook" a couple times by Kyrie's mad handles, he played him well defensively, converting Kyrie's 4 turnovers into 4 steals. The Spurs won 127-119 on the road, and are now 9-0 at the A&T Center.
