Patty Mills leads Spurs past Pelicans, as SA stays undefeated

Mills scored a season-high 33 points.
Getting free after a solid screen, Patty Mills splashed in a 3PTer (to go with eight total) to put the Spurs ahead in the final minute. The game was close throughout, but the Spurs were ready for the big-man duo of Anthony Davis & Demarcus Cousins.

Pau Gasol may have fouled out late in the 4th quarter, but Anderson Varejao did well starting at the center position, bothering Cousins all game long. DMC still managed double-digit rebounds and 26 points, but Davis had an underwhelming performance (18 points, 9 rebounds) despite some solid next-level plays, as did Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday for the Pelicans.

Mills finished with 33 points, shooting 10-17, a season high for the Australian de-facto point guard. Dejounte Murray had a nice showing off the bench as well with 11 points and 2 assists, making a trio of long balls. Kawhi Leonard had 15 points, 8 rebounds and some nice defensive plays as the Spurs gained a sizable lead before New Orleans made things interesting again late. Jeremy Lamb chipped in 14 points.

The Spurs are now 12-0 at home, and are set for a lengthy road trip before their next defense at the AT&T Center. Mills is now shooting 42% from 3PT range, only outdone by Kawhi Leonard's 45%. The Spurs remain in second place behind only the Golden State Warriors, as the two teams are virtually tied, except the Warriors have played more games in the season so far.
