Gay's game winner seals comeback over Heat, 109-107.

A strong start by Patty Mills (13 points, 6 assists) at point guard seemed to put the Spurs in control with a ten point lead, but foul trouble would wind up plaguing both teams and the Miami Heat held a sizable lead late. The tenacious Spurs would scramble back and win--off a Rudy Gay (10 points) jumper at the buzzer, solidifying the benefits of having him wear the silver and black. This was his debut game for the Spurs.

Prior to Gay's tremendous shot over Dion Waiters (20 points), Pau Gasol (19 points, 12 rebounds) blocked Tyler Johnson's (14 points/8 assists) layup inside and the Spurs used a timeout with just 2.6 seconds left. Gay's clutch heroics were preceded by a game-tying 3PTer from Tony Parker, reminding the NBA why he is still a great player.

Foul trouble would cost the Spurs their quick and wily Patty Mills, and for Miami its big man Hassan Whiteside (11 points, 9 rebounds) and James Johnson (17 points, 10 rebounds), who had been leading the comeback and second half control for the Heat. Kawhi Leonard finished with 32 points, but struggled with his perimeter shot in transition, as the Spurs collective aim was off in this one, especially Danny Green (1-8 shooting from 3PT territory). Green would make some late layups to keep the Spurs alive, however, along with his only three-ball.

Leonard's block off the glass was a break-starter for the Spurs, and he had some nice breakaway dunks. Early in the final period, both teams took turns with the ball trying to make a basket, and on that kind of night, the Spurs are able to pull out the upset, after a tough showing by the Heat.
